When you're the proud owner of an automobile from Husker Cadillac, you'll need to pay close attention to the different service needs that your vehicle needs. Otherwise, you'll find yourself stranded on the side of the road with the need for expensive repairs. Proper acceleration is necessary when you need to merge with other vehicles on the road or keep up with the speed limit. Unfortunately, there are some common reasons why your car might not be accelerating how it should be. Let's consider what our technicians look at when you bring your vehicle into our dealership with an acceleration issue.
Checking Your Oxygen Sensor and Mass Air Flow Sensor
These two parts of your vehicle largely contribute to how efficiently your car is accelerating. If they are dirty to any extent, you may not get the accelerating power you need. You may also find that your vehicle feels slow and sluggish when you take your foot off the accelerator. We can clean your mass airflow sensor and replace your oxygen sensor to fix the problem.
Broken Throttle Position Sensor
The angle of your throttle valve opening needs to be at a very specific degree to provide proper accelerating power. We'll check your sensor to see if there's a problem with it, and we'll look at your vehicle's computer to see if adequate information is being sent over for acceleration.
A Dirty or Clogged Fuel Filter
Filters like your fuel filter are designed to keep dirt and debris from making their way to your gas tank and engine. There will come a time when you need to have these filters replaced, and our technicians can take care of this for you.
Replacing Your Air Filter
You should replace your air filter according to the recommendations in your owner's manual to allow for adequate airflow to your engine. Acceleration can be affected by a dirty air filter, and we'll let you know when you should be adding an air filter change to your maintenance schedule.
