GM Rolls Out Google Gemini AI Integration Across Cadillac EV Lineup

General Motors is excited to introduce advanced technology coming to a wide range of electric vehicles, including Cadillac's electrified lineup. Already recognized for impressive design and performance, Cadillac EVs will gain further capabilities thanks to state-of-the-art AI assistance engineered for safer, more efficient driving. GM will initiate Google Gemini technology updates across Cadillac electric models, beginning with 2022 model year vehicles. Expected to reach nearly 4 million vehicles in the United States, this deployment is among the largest automotive integrations of Gemini to date.

What is Google Gemini?

Gemini is a sophisticated AI assistant designed to function alongside Google built-in technology. Seamless compatibility with GM's infotainment platform makes Gemini an ideal enhancement for Cadillac's EV lineup. Furthermore, Gemini interacts with OnStar®, elevating driver safety systems and making vehicle features easier to access while driving. Cadillac EV owners will notice several key benefits from Gemini technology. Chief among these is conversational voice recognition, which eliminates the constraint of fixed voice commands. Drivers can converse naturally with Gemini and execute complex requests, such as generating tailored music selections based on their mood. Drivers can also inquire about arbitrary topics during their journey and learn from AI.

Improved Text Communications

Hands-free messaging represents another major enhancement, enabling Cadillac EV drivers to send and receive text messages safely through Gemini without distraction. You can ask Gemini to read incoming texts or summarize longer messages so you can reply promptly. Without interacting with your phone screen, you can draft, refine, and translate text messages into different languages. Gemini also allows you to insert emojis into your text messages for emphasis.

Entertainment on the Road

Whether charging your battery, waiting out gridlock, or taking a rest break, Gemini keeps you entertained while inside the vehicle. The system connects with native in-car applications, including Audible, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Spotify, HBO Max, YouTube, and more. Cadillac EV drivers can request custom road-trip playlists, watch movies or shows while parked, or catch up on popular podcasts.

Eligible Cadillac owners can expect a prompt on their vehicle's infotainment screen when this technology is ready for download.
