Car Oil Types

The Different Types of Engine Oil

The huge wall of many different types of oil can be very confusing for those who plan to change their vehicle's oil for the first time. The choice can be based on several factors, like the temperature of the area you live in, your driving style, the mileage of your motor, and your vehicle's age. You can usually find your vehicle's recommended oil type in the glove compartment manual, but our certified technicians can also help you find the perfect oil.

Full Synthetic Motor Oil

For your engine's best lubrication and performance, fully synthetic motor oil could be best for you. It allows for higher viscosity levels, oxidation prevention, and protection against thermal damages. It's also known to be highly resistant to oil sludge. You may see a noticeable improvement in the efficiency of your motor. Even though it's more expensive, fully synthetic motor oil can be an excellent investment for many vehicles. It's especially useful for those living in extremely cold or hot areas because of its thermal adaptability. Even older vehicles can see its benefits.

Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

Synthetic blend motor oil can give many benefits as full synthetic motor oil but at a lower price. It's a mixture of additives and both synthetic and conventional oil. This makes it great for oxidation protection. It's safe for all vehicles that originally use conventional motor oil to switch to synthetic blends or even full synthetic.

Conventional Motor Oil

Conventional motor oil is the most common and cheapest type available and is a great choice for vehicles that drive low to moderate distances. It's most appropriate for vehicles in areas with temperatures that don't change much throughout the year.

High Mileage Motor Oil

High mileage motor oil is recommended for vehicles that have over 75,000 miles on the engine. It's available as conventional, synthetic blended, or full synthetic oil. It's mixed with additives such as seal conditioner to minimize leaking. It's the best choice for reducing high oil consumption, which also reduces emissions.
