Cadillac's Formula 1 Team has officially been granted final approval to compete on the 2026 Formula 1 grid. Supported by TWG Motorsports and General Motors, they'll become the eleventh contender alongside the current ten teams.
TWG Motorsports and General Motors have spent the last year striving to establish a Cadillac presence in Formula 1. In March 2025, the organization was officially recognized as fulfilling every requirement, an achievement FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem described as a “milestone.” President Sulayem emphasized that this new entry fits seamlessly within the FIA's 2026 regulations and expressed hope that the eleventh team will inspire both rising drivers and devoted fans.
Recent leadership moves include appointing former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon as Team Principal, and naming veteran Russ O'Blenes as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units.
Cadillac currently operates out of several locations across the U.S., with an additional base in Silverstone, England. Since announcing their Formula 1 bid, they have assembled over 200 experts focused on aerodynamics and component design.
While significant work remains, the team is optimistic that their presence in Formula 1 will breathe new life into the championship.
