Specs at a Glance
Introduced in 2016, the Cadillac XT5 stands today as the best-selling model for Cadillac. The 2019 edition is split into four trims, of which the Luxury and Premium form the middle tier: a balance between affordability and a robust list of standard features.
How is the Performance for Both Vehicles?
Whether you go with the Luxury or a Premium trim, the 2019 Cadillac XT5 will have a 3.6-liter V6 under its hood. The V6, which comes with automatic stop/start to eliminate engine idling, produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, and it is hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can go for a front-wheel drivetrain or an all-wheel drivetrain. If you want to maximize fuel economy, go with the front-wheel drive, which enables the XT5 to achieve 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. For enhanced traction—or optimizing tire grip on the road regardless of driving surface condition—go with the all-wheel-drive system.
Appearance Between the Luxury and Premium Luxury
The 2019 Cadillac XT5 uses a unibody construction for optimal physical integrity, with SUV sheet metal to emphasize its relatively large size. The Luxury trim has a rear spoiler, a power sunroof, and 18-inch bright machined-faced aluminum wheels with Light Argent accents among its exterior features. The Premium is upgraded with 20-inch Sterling Silver-finished aluminum wheels, illuminated door handles, and front cornering lights for providing additional illumination in the direction of your turn.
Both are Feature Rich
For comfort and convenience, the Luxury has features such as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone automatic climate control, a garage-door opener, wireless charging ability, keyless entry, remote start, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 5.7-inch color driver information display, the OnStar communications system, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, voice recognition technology, four USB ports and an auxiliary input jack for connecting portable media devices, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a three-month SiriusXM Radio subscription. The Luxury also has automatic on/off halogen headlamps, heated power-folding side mirrors, automatic wipers, a power liftgate, and bright-brushed aluminum roof rails.
Go with the Premium Luxury if you want tri-zone automatic climate control, a 14-speaker Bose surround-sound system (instead of the eight-speaker system), and ventilation on the front seats. For safety, the Luxury and Premium Luxury get StabiliTrak (for electronic vehicle stability control and traction control), all-wheel anti-lock braking, front and rear park assist, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lamps, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, seven airbags, and Teen Driver mode. Also standard on both trims is a driver’s awareness package, which includes features such as low-speed forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, IntelliBeam technology (for automatically turning the high-beam headlamps on or off depending on amount of outdoor light), and safety alert seat technology.
