Aiden Price Steps Into GM's Driver-in-the-Loop Simulator
Aiden brought impressive credentials to GM's virtual cockpit well before catching Matt Borland's eye. Having secured victories in micro sprints and gained widespread acclaim on the iRacing sim-racing platform, he was already a proven competitor in digital motorsports. Transitioning his abilities to support a Formula 1 racing team was the natural progression.
After a thorough evaluation conducted by the Cadillac Formula 1 team, Aiden's place in the program was secured. His innate feel for simulator racing stood out immediately to engineers and team leadership. Aiden shared, "I've learned a huge amount from the whole team. Simon and I will do sessions where we overlap our data and find places where I can improve."
Greg Price takes immense satisfaction in watching his son excel. "I've always worked with him on setting up cars," he said. "He's very in tune with everything we do on our race cars, and in iRacing, he's had a little side-hustle creating setups and selling them to other drivers online." Their combined efforts play an essential role in Cadillac's Formula 1 racing strategy. Advanced simulators replicate every minor detail of a vehicle's setup, providing real-time telemetry that guides how physical race cars are engineered and modified. Everything from complex suspension systems to minor mechanical adjustments is thoroughly vetted in the simulator.
Prominent drivers, including Simon Pagenaud and Pietro Fittipaldi, regularly benefit from the data generated by Greg and Aiden. This father-son pair empowers Cadillac to accelerate testing and optimize track performance with remarkable agility. As Aiden noted, "All these different groups at GM come together and correlate between NASCAR, INDYCAR, LMDh, and F1. Everything that we do all ties together." The future remains exceptionally bright for Greg, Aiden, and Cadillac racing.
