Formula 1® Team Names American Star Colton Herta as Test Driver

Cadillac's Formula 1 Team has been a notable presence in auto racing for years. Now the team grows stronger with a new recruit. Cadillac's Formula 1 Team now welcomes the arrival of Colton Herta, who has accumulated almost ten victories in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Herta comes on board as a Test Driver as preparations ramp up for the 2026 season.

Cadillac Formula 1 Team's New Acquisition

Herta's partnership with Cadillac gives the driver and the team new momentum. For Herta, it's a triumphant re-entry into European competition — a scene where he previously achieved strong results and hopes to continue that run with Cadillac in 2026. He began competing in Europe in 2015, and by 2017, he had recorded six podiums, five poles, and four wins in the Euroformula Open Championship. He's also participated in several major European events, including multiple British F5 races, where he claimed a Brands Hatch victory and three podium finishes. He returned to U.S. competition in 2017.

Herta's U.S. résumé is equally impressive. Across fewer than eight INDYCAR seasons, he's amassed nine wins, led over 1,000 laps, and secured 16 pole positions. He was the youngest driver to earn an INDYCAR SERIES pole position and the youngest to win an INDYCAR SERIES race. Additionally, Herta has class victories in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Rolex 24 in Daytona in 2019 and 2022.

Herta aims to contribute his track-proven skills to the Cadillac Formula 1 Team. The team welcomes his intuition, energy, insight, and international perspective.
