TWG Motorsports and GM name Russ O'Blenes to Lead Cadillac Formula 1 Power Units Vent

TWG Motorsports and General Motors have announced the launch of GM Performance Power Units LLC, a new company aimed at propelling Cadillac into Formula 1 vehicle and power unit production by the decade's end. Veteran motor racing engineer Russ O'Blenes has been appointed CEO of the new venture.

With more than 30 years of experience in motorsports engineering, O'Blenes currently leads GM Motorsports Propulsion and Performance as team director. His extensive career includes developing powertrains for championship-winning teams and award-winning production cars. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the GM Performance and Racing Center in Pontiac, Michigan, and bringing GM's eCrate initiative to market for performance car builders.

Development on the company's Formula 1 prototype engine technology is already underway, and Performance Power Units LLC is expected to have a dedicated facility operational by 2026. The Cadillac team will continue using Ferrari power units until GM's power units are approved for use in Formula 1 races.

GM remains at the forefront of innovation, shaping the future of transportation with its cutting-edge Cadillac vehicles both on and off the racetrack.
